TAKOREAN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
To our Community,
We have made the very difficult decision to close our business entirely for an undefined amount of time, until it becomes clear that it is safe for our team and our community to interact with our spaces again. We have been fortunate that the TaKorean team has remained healthy to this point. We feel that it is now time to make the decision that we will no longer operate a business that has the kind of person-to-person contact risks that our restaurant entails.
This was not an easy decision for a growing business like ours, but it feels like the right one. TaKorean has made a commitment to pay our team all accrued sick leave on the books, which for in some cases extends to 6 weeks for our longest employees. This amount of sick time costs us close to three weeks of normal payroll operations. We do have newer employees who have only a week of accrued sick time or less. We will also do everything we can to assist them with the process of collecting unemployment on temporary leave. We’re hopeful that DC is likely to pass a bill early this week that will ease the eligibility of unemployment benefits, which will become an option for all employees in our city who are on temporary leave due to lack of work because of COVID-19.
These are unprecedented times, and we appreciate your understanding and support.
Stay safe and we can't wait to begin serving you again as soon as possible!
